West Virginia Flood Victim Collection

West Virginia was recently hit with a tremendous amount of rain that has resulted in the partial or full submersion of cars, homes and buildings under floodwater. The West Virginia Governor has declared a state of emergency for the entire state. One of our church members, who is a native of West Virginia and has relatives living there, has requested our help. Her relatives and close friends have all been impacted. Some more severely than others. Some have lost everything. Some have had over 4 feet of water in their homes and have lost their cars.

We are looking to collect items to help with cleanup and every day necessities for the flood victims.
If you can help, that would be wonderful. Please look over the following list.

If you would rather give money, please consider buying gift cards to Lowes or Walmart.

We are looking to collect items for this month and part of next month. Our church member is willing to rent or get hold of a larger vehicle to deliver the donations sometime in August.

If the church is locked, please place your donations outside the Clothing Closet drop-off area (parallel to Pearl Street).
If the church is open, place your donations in the downstairs foyer under the coat rack.

There are thoughts that maybe a mission trip will be planned a little further down the road to go there to help with clean-up.
“At this time, however, volunteers and organizations are asked not to self-deploy to affected areas,” the Upshur County Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management said. “Uncoordinated response efforts can create additional safety hazards, increase traffic congestion and complicate ongoing emergency operations.”
